The manufacturer rates the 2024 Ram 3500 to tow between 14,390 lb and 37,090 lb, depending on cab, bed, drive, engine and axle ratio. Below are all 78 factory configurations in its 2024 towing chart. Narrow them to the truck you're looking at, or one a Midwestern dealer has on the lot.

Trailer weight and payload ratings are mutually exclusive: a truck loaded to its maximum payload cannot also tow its maximum trailer.
Curb weight and axle ratings are not published in this brochure, so they are left blank.
Gross vehicle weight ratings are listed separately for 4x2 and 4x4 where the brochure gives two values.
The brochure rates the base-equipment truck, with different equipment noted for the Power Wagon, Rebel and Mega Cab (Laramie) models.
Ratings assume proper equipment, and a fifth-wheel or gooseneck hitch is required above 18,000 lb.
Dual-rear-wheel trucks are the 13,500 lb and 14,000 lb GVWR rows (the brochure shades only the 14,000 lb ones; no single-rear-wheel 3500 is rated above 12,300 lb); all other 3500 rows are single rear wheel.
The brochure lists a 13,500 lb GVWR, 4.10 axle, 41,955 lb GCWR row for the High Output diesel with no trailer ratings in any column, so it has no entry here.

Max trailer: The heaviest trailer the configuration is rated to pull, with the right hitch and the vehicle carrying only a driver. Every passenger and every pound of cargo comes off it.
Payload: What the vehicle can carry inside and in the bed, including people and the trailer's tongue or pin weight. It is GVWR minus the vehicle's own weight.
GVWR: Gross vehicle weight rating: the most the loaded vehicle may weigh, itself plus everything in it.
GCWR: Gross combined weight rating: the most the loaded vehicle and loaded trailer may weigh together. It is often the number that runs out first.
Axle ratio: A higher number (3.92 against 3.21) turns the engine faster at a given speed. It costs some fuel economy and usually raises the tow rating.
