2016 Dodge Durango maintenance schedule

The factory schedule for normal driving. Oil changes follow the oil-change indicator on most models; severe use (towing, dusty roads, lots of idling) shortens some intervals.

A dot means the service is due at that mileage or after that many years, whichever comes first. Engines: 3.6L, 5.7L.

Additional Inspections
Inspect the CV joints.
Inspect front suspension, tie rod ends, and replace if necessary.
Inspect the front and rear axle fluid, change if using your vehicle for police, taxi, fleet, off-road or frequent trailer towing.
Inspect the brake linings, parking brake function.
Inspect transfer case fluid.
Additional Maintenance
Replace engine air filter.
Replace the air conditioning filter.
Replace spark plugs.**
Flush and replace the engine coolant at 10 years or 150,000 miles (240,000 km) whichever comes first.
Change transfer case fluid.
Inspect and replace PCV valve if necessary.

Once a month or before a long trip

  • Check the fluid levels of the coolant reservoir, brake master cylinder and fill as needed.
  • Check engine oil level.
  • Check function of all interior and exterior lights.
  • Check windshield washer fluid level.
  • Check the tire inflation pressures and look for unusual wear or damage.

At every oil change interval as indicated by oil change indicator system

  • Change oil and filter.
  • Rotate the tires. Rotate at the first sign of irregular wear, even if it occurs before the oil indicator system turns on.
  • Inspect battery and clean and tighten terminals as required.
  • Inspect brake pads, shoes, rotors, drums, hoses and park brake.
  • Inspect engine cooling system protection and hoses.
  • Inspect exhaust system.
  • Inspect engine air cleaner if using in dusty or off-road conditions.

Severe duty (all models)

  • Change engine oil at 4,000 miles (6,500 km) if operated in a dusty and off-road environment or predominately at idle or very low engine RPM.

Oil change limits

  • Oil change intervals must not exceed 10,000 miles (16,000 km), twelve months or 350 hours of engine run time, whichever comes first.
  • The oil change message can appear as early as 3,500 miles (5,600 km) under severe operating conditions.

Footnote

  • ** Spark plug change interval is mileage based only; yearly intervals do not apply.
