Grand Wagoneer overview

The Jeep Grand Wagoneer is the brand's three-row full-size SUV, now sold as a single lineup that absorbed the models once called Wagoneer. It is powered by a 420-hp 3.0-liter Hurricane twin-turbo six, tows up to 10,000 pounds, and comes in standard and long-wheelbase bodies with seating for seven or eight. For 2027 the trim ladder runs from the base Grand Wagoneer through Limited, Upland, Overland and the Summit family. It suits large families and towers who want space and capability from a premium Jeep.

The Midwest take

The Grand Wagoneer is a full-size, three-row SUV for large families and for towers: seating for seven or eight, a 420-hp twin-turbo inline six, and tow ratings up to 10,000 pounds in 4x4 form on the standard wheelbase. That is a Lake Minnetonka pontoon, a Wisconsin cabin boat or a big camper, as long as you respect the payload number. Rear-drive 4x2 is offered only on the base trim, and anywhere with a real winter the 4x4 is the one to order. At 216.1 inches long (228.1 in the L), it is a tight fit in older Chicago garages. It is built at Warren Truck Assembly in Warren, Michigan. The 2027 lineup is gas only: Jeep's configurator lists just the Hurricane six, not the range-extended version it announced earlier.

One flagship name for the full-size lineup

Starting with the 2026 model year, Jeep merged the former Wagoneer into the Grand Wagoneer, so every full-size Jeep SUV now carries one name. Shoppers choose a trim from Grand Wagoneer, Limited, Limited Altitude, Upland, Overland or the Summit family, then pick a standard or long wheelbase. Rear-wheel drive is offered only on the base trim; the rest are four-wheel drive.

Twin-turbo six with big towing numbers

The 3.0-liter Hurricane makes 420 hp and 468 lb-ft and can tow up to 10,000 pounds when set up with the 3.92 axle and 4x4 on the standard wheelbase. Jeep calls that best in class among available ratings. The long-wheelbase body is rated up to 9,860 pounds.

4x4 modes and air suspension for rough days

The standard four-wheel-drive system offers Auto, Tow, Snow, Mud, Sand and Sport modes, and an optional two-speed unit with 2.64:1 low range adds Rock mode. Quadra-Lift air suspension, standard on Overland and Upland, raises ground clearance from 7.4 inches to as much as 10.1.

Seating for seven or eight with real cargo room

Second-row captain's chairs give a seven-seat layout, and a second-row bench makes eight on most trims. Behind the third row you get 27.9 cubic feet in the standard body and 42.6 cubic feet in the L, and folding both rows opens up 116.7 cubic feet in the standard body.

Trims for different buyers

Upland adds all-terrain tires, skid plates, tow hooks and a heavy-duty tow package. Overland brings air suspension and a head-up display, while Summit trims add 20-way massaging front seats and four-zone climate control. Summit Reserve tops the range with Palermo leather and a front console cooler.

Grand Wagoneer questions, answered

Can the Grand Wagoneer pull a lake boat or camper?

Yes. It is rated up to 10,000 pounds on the standard wheelbase with 4x4 and the 3.92 axle, and 9,860 pounds on the L. Rear-drive models are rated far lower, 6,210 pounds standard and 5,960 for the L, so the drivetrain matters.

Should I buy a Grand Wagoneer 4x2 in the Midwest?

Most Midwest buyers should not. The 4x2 is rated for less towing and has no front-axle traction on snowy roads. The 4x4 is the better choice for winter driving and for the 10,000-pound tow rating.

What's the difference between Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer?

Through 2025 the Wagoneer was the lower-priced full-size Jeep and the Grand Wagoneer was the luxury version. Starting with the 2026 model year Jeep merged them into one lineup called Grand Wagoneer, which now runs from the base model through Limited, Upland, Overland and the Summit trims.

How much can the 2027 Jeep Grand Wagoneer tow?

Up to 10,000 pounds on the standard wheelbase with 4x4 and the 3.92 axle ratio, and up to 9,860 pounds on the longer L. With the 3.55 axle the ratings are lower, and rear-wheel-drive models are rated at 6,210 pounds on the standard body and 5,960 on the L. Those figures come from Jeep's latest published spec sheet, for 2026.

What engine does the 2027 Jeep Grand Wagoneer have?

A 3.0-liter Hurricane twin-turbo inline six with 420 horsepower and 468 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. It is the only engine in Jeep's 2027 configurator.

Is there a Grand Wagoneer REEV for 2027?

Jeep announced a range-extended electric Grand Wagoneer, with an estimated 647 horsepower and a 92-kWh battery, as a late-availability 2026 model. Jeep's 2027 configurator lists only the gas Hurricane engine, so ask a dealer whether the REEV is orderable.

How much does the 2027 Jeep Grand Wagoneer cost?

Jeep's configurator shows the 2027 Grand Wagoneer from $65,000 before destination, with the long-wheelbase L starting at $68,000. Overland starts at $81,000 and the Summit trims run from $95,400 to $101,400.

How many people does the Grand Wagoneer seat?

Seven with second-row captain's chairs, or up to eight with the second-row bench on most trims. Cargo space behind the third row is 27.9 cubic feet in the standard body and 42.6 in the L.
